KARACHI: NICH receives medicines

KARACHI, Jan 15: The National Institute of Child Health received here on Thursday a container of medical and surgical supplies donated to it by the House of Charity, an NGO of Pakistani Americans through Healthcare and Social Welfare Association, another NGO working in Karachi.

Regional Commissioner Income Tax (Corporate), Karachi Region, in an informal ceremony at the NICH premises handed the supplies to the NICH director, Prof. Zeenat Issani.

According to a press release, HASWA President, Dr. Firoze Ismail, speaking on the occasion mentioned that all these supplies were collected with the help of House of Charity in Houston Texas in collaboration with the Medical Bridges Inc. also in Houston.

It was mentioned that more such containers would be shipped in the next few months. Dr. Firoze also presented two children with traumatic amputations of both hands. He announced on the occasion that the HASWA was planning to hold camps at different hospitals to collect data about all such children.

The exercise was said to help provide adequate information to a medical mission associated with Shriners Hospital for Children, Galveston, Texas, which will be visiting Karachi and holding camps for such children in March this year and provide them with prosthesis besides other relevant interventions.

Dr. Firoze further mentioned that the team will also provide training to local professionals enabling the effected children to receive necessary and easy support.-APP
