ISLAMABAD, Jan 13: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has reviewed graduate and postgraduate curriculums of software engineering besides recommending a number of steps to develop the discipline, said an official statement.

In this regard, a three-day meeting of the national curriculum review committee (NCRC) of the HEC was held recently at the regional NCRC office in Karachi.

Dr Aftab Maroof from the National University of Emerging Sciences acted as convener and Dr Imdad Ali Ismaili from the University of Sindh as secretary of the NCRC.

The recommendations along with draft curriculums will soon be dispatched to universities and institutions of higher learning for their comments and suggestions.

The curriculums will be discussed again in the final meeting of the committee in the light of the suggestions. After finalization, the adopted curriculums will be available for implementation in all the public sector universities.

The HEC has already revised/reviewed curriculums of a number of disciplines including natural sciences, basic sciences, computer science, information technology and MBBS/BDS being taught at graduate and postgraduate levels in the public sector universities and institutions of higher learning.
