KARACHI, Jan 13: Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Health, Noman Saigol, on Tuesday sought cooperation of the district administrations, social welfare organizations and political and religious leaders for elimination of polio from the province.

Addressing at a meeting at the auditorium of the National Research Institute of Fertility Care (NRIFC), the adviser reiterated that elimination of polio was among the top priorities of the Sindh government.

Additional Secretary Health Iqbal Dewan, Director General Health Dr Qadir Baksh Memon, a WHO representative, EDOs Health and town health officers attended the meeting.

Mr Saigol urged the health department's officers to utilise all available resources for the success of the anti-polio campaign to be launched this year. He directed the EDOs to undertake visits of health-care centres during the campaign. The representative of WHO, in a briefing, said that 99 cases of polio were recorded in Pakistan during the year 2003, and 29 of them were from Sindh.

ANTI-POLIO DRIVE: The CDGK will launch a three-day anti-polio campaign from Jan 20. Citizens are advised to make this campaign a success.-PPI
