MIRPURKHAS, Jan 9: A police officer, now posted at Karachi, was booked by the court of the first judicial magistrate here on Thursday on the directives of the district and sessions judge for failing to appear at the hearings of a 1995 case in the sessions court.
Town police officer Mohammad Qasim Ghouri was the SHO of the Satellite Town police station, Mirpurkhas, in 1991 when a police party led by him was attacked by dacoits in Deh Khut village in the taluka.
On behalf of the state, a case was registered with the Satellite Town police. Later, the case was transferred to the district and sessions court and notices were sent to the TPO for recording his statement but he failed to do so.
District and sessions judge Mohammad Iqbal Arain, taking note of the misconduct, ordered the court of the first judicial magistrate to lodge a case against him. It may be recalled here that the TPO is a witness in the case on behalf of the state.
TWO INJURED: Two villagers were seriously injured while two donkeys were killed on Wednesday night when a taxi cab hit their cart at the Sim Nala near Ratanabad on Hyderabad road.
Some villagers were on their way in a donkey cart when a taxi cab collided with it as a result of which Ladhoo Shikari and Nim sustained serious injuries while the donkeys were killed on the spot. The injured were rushed to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital.
