KARACHI, Jan 4: Khursheed Azam and S. M. Yusuf were declared the winner and the runners-up, respectively, of the PSO-Dreamworld Car Rally held here on Sunday.
The prizes for the best-scoring women participants were won by Umme Habiba and Shahnaz Akhtar, while the prize for the oldest vehicle went to Tanvir Akhtar and that of the worst performance was received by Zahid Baloch.
Over 230 cars participated in the rally that began from the Hill Park, off Shaheed-i-Millat Road, with the first car being flagged off at 11.30am. The 70-kilometre rally concluded at a resort located off the Super Highway.
Participating cars were flagged off with a gap of 40 seconds to travel via Shaheed-i-Millat Road, University Road, Karsaz Road, Sharea Faisal, Clifton Bridge, Boating Basin upto Seaview Township where they broke their journey for lunch.
After the rally's start, cars snaked through various DHA roads before approaching the Expressway and travelling through Rashid Minhas Road and the Super Highway, participants arrived at the destination.
The route of rally was kept undisclosed till the very start. There were six time control booths and two passage control booths along the route to monitor the rally. Each participant had to check in at all the booths to be declared a finisher.
Various prizes like best decorated car, oldest and latest model cars, gold jewellry for best scoring women drivers were given. Airline tickets for the families of the winner and the runners-up were also given. PSO's Kaleem Siddiqui was the chief guest on the occasion.
