RAWALPINDI, Dec 31: National Bank gave a befitting reply to Allied Bank, courtesy of Naumanullah whose blazing 146 not out spurred his side to 313 for five on the third day of their Patron's Trophy Pool 'B' match at KRL Stadium on Wednesday.

With National Bank resuming their first innings at the score of 79 for one, Naumanullah who was unbeaten on 35, sent the rival attack on a leather hunt. He cracked 20 boundaries and a six and was at the crease for 416 minutes. He batted confidently throughout his splendid innings for which he faced 242 balls.

National Bank appeared in no mood to concede first innings lead after Allied Bank had posted a massive 501.

In their cause, they were also helped by Sajid Ali who scored 54 and opener Imran Javed whose contribution was 41. But National Bank still needed another 39 runs to avoid follow-on.

Paceman Taimur Khan claimed three for 60 while Waqar Younis added one more wicket to the one he had taken on Tuesday. Play ended prematurely because of bad light with 17 overs remaining to be bowled.
