NOWSHERA, Dec 31: Chief of Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad has reiterated that Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will not give vote of confidence to President Gen Pervez Musharraf. Talking to reporters at Zirat Kaka Sahib , near Nowshera on Wednesday he said that the alliance had struck deal with the government on Legal Framework Order to establish supremacy of Parliament and the Constitution.
He vowed that the MMA would fight for bringing amendments to the Constitution regarding Islamic provision and added that the religious parties would oppose internal and external policies of the government. "The MMA will not give up its struggle for the implementation of Shariat in the country", Qazi Hussain asserted.
Replying to a question he stated that the MMA parliamentarians would never vote for President Musharaff and they would not back out what he described from their principle stand. He said that President Musharraf was morally bound to approach the Parliament for the vote of confidence, instead of holding meetings with the parliamentarians at Camp Office, Rawalpindi.
He denied reports about the differences inside the MMA, saying that Maulana Fazlur Rehman would be opposition leader in the Lower House while he (Qazi) had been appointed acting chief of the MMA.
Earlier Qazi Hussain assured the people that the NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani would approach the prime minister to provide natural gas to Zirat Kaka Sahib. He said that the chief minister would soon visit the area.
