HYDERABAD, May 16: Farmers will be authorized to operate the irrigation system collectively through their organizations and in due course of time the irrigation system of minors and watercourses will be handed over to the farmers’ organizations.
This was said by director general, agriculture engineering and water management, Sindh, Rao Abdul Jabbar, while speaking in the inauguration ceremony of a five-day training course for the capacity building of farmers organizations and the officials of the irrigation and water management departments here on Thursday.
He hoped that with the implementation of this system, water distribution disputes would be amicably resolved.
In his lecture on “Organisation and Management”, Prof Mushtaq Mirani stressed the need for quality leadership of the farmers organizations.
According to programme, practical training of the participants will be held in agricultural fields of Goth Photo Dahri, taluka Matiari.
PETROL PUMPS: The District Coordination Officer (DCO) Hyderabad, Mir Hussain Ali, has clarified that after the devolution of powers, no-objection certificate for new petrol pumps in Hyderabad district would be issued by the DCO office.
He was presiding over a meeting of the concerned officials at Shahbaz hall here on Wednesday.
He said that the NOC in the past used to be issued by the deputy commissioner but the same would now be issued by the DCO and added that such applications should be deposited in the DCO’s office.
He said that after inviting objections from the relevant departments, NOC will be issued within three weeks.
Mr Ali took notice of complaints that at some petrol pumps, smuggled petrol and diesel oil were being sold. He issued a stern warning to such petrol pump owners to refrain from such illegal practice failing which strict legal action would be taken against them.
He directed that the quality of petrol and diesel should be maintained and the petrol pumps should be fully protected.
The meeting was attended by the petrol pump owners, HDA officials and others.
