LAHORE, Aug 30: The Mutahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has so far not finalized “electoral adjustments” with any political party.

This was stated by MMA leader Liaquat Baloch while speaking at a Press conference here on Friday. He said the MMA would willingly strike electoral adjustments with any political party which it thought was ready to cooperate with the alliance to further its stated objectives.

If came to power, the alliance would enforce the Islamic system of governance, protect the Constitution, provide basic facilities to the common people, and offer complete support to freedom movement in Kashmir.

Baloch said the MMA had put up 232 candidates for the National Assembly and 476 for provincial assemblies throughout the country.

He said the alliance would hold a public meeting at Rohri at the end of the second phase of its train March on Sept 7 and at Karachi at the end of the third phase on Sept 8. He said if the government tried to stop the MMA from carrying on its train march, it would adopt the land route to Karachi to complete its mass contact campaign.

He said the MMA would continue its election campaign in interior Sindh on Sept 9-12, in Balochistan on Sept 14-16, in the NWFP on Sept 18-20 and in the Punjab on Sept 25-30.

He said the alliance had directed its local organizations to hold joint conferences and meetings of political and religious leaders as part of the MMA’s election drive. He said the MMA component parties had been directed from issuing controversial statements. All differences of opinion would be solved at the central level, he added.
