NOWSHERA, Aug 30: The leaders of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, an alliance of religio-political parties met here at Darul Uloom Haqania, Akora Khattak to resolve their differences.

Chief of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI), Qazi Hussain Ahmad, head of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI), Maulana Fazl Rehman and chief of his own faction, Maulana Samiul Haq held two-hour long meeting at Darul Uloom and discussed the country’s political situation, seats adjustment and formulated a strategy for the proposed train march.

The MMA components have developed differences over various constituencies of national and the provincial assemblies in the NWFP. Insiders say that Qazi and Maulana Fazl Rehman met in Nowshera in this regard.

Later, addressing a joint news conference, the alliance leaders said that the train march would originate from Lahore on Sept 7 and would terminate at Rohri, Sindh.

They claimed that the appeal for the march has received a positive response from the people in Punjab. They said that after the train march the MMA would organize public meetings in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other major cities.

To a question, the JUI chief Maulana Fazl Rehman, dispelled the impression that differences existed among the alliance components.
