KARACHI: Transport fares increased

KARACHI, May 11: The Sindh Transport Department on Wednesday announced the revised transport fares. An official notification issued here said the fares had been revised upward consequent upon revision of POL prices by Oil Companies Advisory Committee on March 15. It had been represented to the Government of Sindh that fares of public transport should be revised to meet the increase in POL and operational cost of public transport.

Official notification said that after consideration of relevant factors, like the capital and operational cost of transport, condition of roads and traffic, it was found expedient to re-fix/ review the public transport fares.

Accordingly the Government of Sindh re-fixed the following maximum rates for public transport plying on intercity/ urban routes in the province.

The notification said the revision of fare is subject to conditions that the transporters shall ensure to replace the old smokes emitting vehicles and make their vehicles environment friendly.—APP
