GUJRANWALA, Feb 21: Supreme Court Bar Association President Ali Ahmad Kurd has said lawyers’ struggle for independence of judiciary was peaceful and their sit-in on Shahra-e-Dastoor in Islamabad would continue till the restoration of deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaduhry.

Speaking at district bar association here on Saturday, he said hundreds of thousands lawyers would respond to the show-cause notice served on SCBA former president Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan by PPP.

He said all political parties, including PML-N, Jamat-i-Islami and Tehrik-i-Insaf Pakistan had assured the lawyers of their participation in the long march and sit-in.

Aitzaz Ahsan said lawyer’s movement could be continued till the restoration of judiciary to its November 2, 2007, status. Bar president Rana M Afzal and others also spoke on the occasion and pledged cooperation in the long march and sit-in.
