KARACHI, Feb 11: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza on Wednesday directed the authorities concerned to take strict security measures across the province during the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain.
He instructed the police to ensure patrolling, setting up check-points and carrying out random checks around mosques, imambargahs and majalis, particularly in the areas deemed to be vulnerable to a breakdown of law and order. He also sought immediate removal of encroachments from the routes of the main Chehlum procession besides ensuring their clearance by a bomb disposal squad.
“Effective measures be taken to deploy active police officials, elite force and Rangers personnel along both sides of the Chehlum processions,” he added.
The minister also directed the police to liaise with intelligence agencies and area people at police station level and conduct raids for the arrest of proclaimed offenders, adding that an effective strategy be adopted to keep a watchful eye on antisocial elements besides ensuring peaceful environment all over Sindh.—PPI
