KHAR, Feb 10: Security forces claimed on Tuesday to have killed seven militants in Bajaur and a large number of people were seen moving out of the conflict-hit areas.

Officials said that troops pounded militants’ positions with artillery in Inayet Kali, Kherkai, Bandery and Shakaro areas of Khar and Mamond subdivisions.

The administration announced a curfew relaxation in Khar town from 6am to 5pm on Wednesday.

The curfew was imposed on Monday after a rocket attack.

The seven militants were killed in attacks on their hideouts in the business town of Inayet Kali. However, the official claim could not be confirmed from independent sources.

Militants fired more than five rockets on Khar on Monday night and one rocket hit a residential area, but did not cause casualty. Militants also attacked a Levy’s post in Dand area, but were repulsed by paramilitary forces.

A power transmission line was blown up in the area and Taliban claimed responsibility for it.

The military operation has triggered a fresh exodus from Inayet Kali and parts of Mamond subdivision. Hundreds of families were fleeing their homes.

Troops have provided transport to the families.

Over 200,000 people had been displaced from Bajaur earlier and nearly 40,000 of them are living in relief camps.
