Arrest of ‘blasphemer’demanded

KASUR, Feb 6: Residents of Raja Jang village on Friday demanded the arrest of an SHO, who they alleged, had committed blasphemy.

The Raja Jang police have already registered a case against the SHO under 295-C of the PPC.

Villagers Younas and Javid along with prayer leader Hafiz Shahid of Farooqia Mosque had gone to the police station to know about the progress in a dacoity case a few days back.

According to the FIR, when villagers were discussing the dacoity case with the SHO, he started criticising ulema. He later turned his topic to the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) and allegedly passed some offensive remarks.

This led to an exchange of harsh arguments, and the villagers returned and told the whole episode to Jamaat Ahle Sunnah amir Mufti Sadat Ali Qadri.

Later, about 200 students and villagers under the leadership of Sadat Ali Qadri went to DPO Rao Abdul Karim who marked the case to DSP Saeed Randhawa. On Thursday, the DSP got a blasphemy case registered against the SHO. The DSP said he had yet to hear the accused.
