SARAJEVO, Feb 4: Bosnian inspection services warned consumers on Wednesday of toxic toys after a number of Chinese-made dolls containing a potentially dangerous chemical were discovered in some stores.

“Following a warning from Slovakia, we have found and destroyed more than 80 Chinese dolls contaminated with high levels of phthalates” around the northeastern town of Tuzla, inspection services official Besim Durakovic said.Durakovic advised merchants and parents to destroy the products as the chemicals they contain are suspected of causing developmental and reproductive problems.

Inspection services across Bosnia were ordered to search for more of the toys, which are believed to have entered the Balkan country ahead of the New Year holidays.—AFP
