KARACHI, Jan 25: Two young men were killed on Sunday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police and witnesses said.
The Quaidabad police said a 29-year-old man was shot dead at his home in Quaidabad.
The victim, Nazar Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead. Sources at the hospital’s medico-legal section told Dawn that the victim was shot a single bullet in his chest.
The police registered a case (FIR 25/09) against an unknown culprit under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Faiz Rasool.
The victim’s brother told Dawn that his younger brother was a factory worker and father of two minor children. He said an unknown attacker barged into his brother’s home at 8am and killed him.
The police said the incident seemed to be motivated by a personal feud. They said the victim hailed from Mianwali.
Bullet-riddled body
The bullet-riddled body of an unidentified man was found at a garbage dump behind Tayyaba Masjid in the Risala police area.
It was shifted to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Sources at the hospital’s medico-legal section told Dawn that the victim was shot four bullets, one in the arm and the remaining in his upper torso.
They said the victim, wearing camouflage trousers and a black T-shirt, looked like a Baloch.
Sources said the victim appeared to be in his mid-20s.
Later, the body was shifted to the Edhi morgue. The police registered a case under Sections 302 and 34 of the PPC.
Dawn staffer robbed
A sub-editor of Dawn was robbed of his cellphone and wallet by two bandits near Urdu Bazaar. Asif Ali Khan was on his way to the office when at 7:50pm two bandits held him hostage at gunpoint and deprived him of his belongings.
