ISLAMABAD, Jan 22: National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Local Government and Rural Development has called for abolition of the local government system introduced by former president Pervez Musharraf and restoration of the earlier set-up.

A meeting of the committee presided over by its chairman Haji Rozuddin urged the ministry of local government and rural development to take measures to abolish the system. NRB chairman Dr Asim Hussain admitted complications and involvement of corruption in the local government system.—Staff Reporter
