BAGRAM AIR BASE, May 13: Unknown assailants fired two rockets in the latest attack on an airfield in eastern Afghanistan on Monday as US troops searched nearby for those responsible for the previous raids.

U.S. army spokesman Major Bryan Hilferty said the 130-man rapid reaction force from the 101st Airborne Division found several launch sites in their hunt south of the city of Khost, but no assailants.

While they were there, two rockets landed several hundred metres away from Khost airfield, which lies east of the city. It is a base for some U.S.-led forces and has come under fire at least four times in the past month.—Reuters
