LAHORE, Jan 13: Five-year-old mare Miss Tabinda looks set to win the feature event when a card of six races goes through in the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse on Wednesday.
Miss Tabinda is contesting in the Chunian Plate, a class VI division I and II combined handicap race to be contested by a dozen acceptors in the over-900 metres race.
The mare who already won three back-to-back races, will be on the trot to extend her winning streak to four, a feat rarely accomplished by any runner.
She will, however, find Brave Heart and Rania, throwing her some challenge before bowing out in the dozen runners.
The filly Rania had put on a dismal show, striding poorly on her last outing, and on that performance she can place at best.
This will be the fourth race of the day.
The third and supporting event, the Chunian Plate class VI division III and IV has the largest field of 18 runners, barring last-minute withdrawals.
Of them four, namely, Kainat, Mirana Shaheen, Luka Toni and Mama Mia are on chance.
The main contenders, on recent form and handicap, are Kainat and Luka Toni. They should lock horns for supremacy in a thrilling encounter. Mare Kainat had easily won the last time out and will have to go all out to register a win in the company of more experienced runners.
With two fluent wins to her credit four-year-old bay filly Boski would be on the course to complete a hat-trick of victories for her owner, who named her after another one of his fillies, who had caused sensation as a fine sprinter at the Racecourse a long time back.
Candidate and Alpha Juliet look good for places in this second race of the day.
All events will be held in the over 1,000 metres category.
