KARACHI, Jan 9: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has announced a compensation of Rs100,000 each for the heirs of 40 persons who died in the North Karachi fire.
He made the announcement while expressing profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives during a visit to the affected area in Sector 5-L of North Karachi on Friday. Later, he visited the few survivors shifted to a nearby school and inquired after their health. He assured them that the injured were being provided free medical treatment.
The chief minister assured them that the government would spare no effort for their rehabilitation.
He said the victims would be given shelters at an alternative place near Port Qasim. Besides, he added, the government would regularise Katchi Abadis.—Agencies
