LANDI KOTAL, May 13: Standing poppy crop over 1,100 kanal was destroyed by the political authorities of the Khyber Agency in the remote Tirah valley.

A representative jirga of tribal elders from Jamrud tehsil headed by assistant political agent Jamrud went to Tirah some four days back and after holding negotiations with local tribesmen, destroyed standing poppy crop at Mehraban Kaley, Wathokay, Kahkol, Soor Kas, Ghakhay and Khaista Khwla.

The jirga was also accompanied by government officials, who examined the pace of developmental schemes initiated by the present government in the Tirah valley, reports our correspondent.
