67 doctors receive appointment orders

LARKANA, Jan 6: MNA Faryal Talpur distributed appointment orders among 67 doctors at the president’s camp office in Naudero on Tuesday.

The doctors who received the appointment orders hail from Larkana and Qambar-Shahdakdot districts and have qualified the examination for medical officers held by the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC).

Ms Faryal said that the government was determined to absorb educated youth in different departments with no compromise on merit.

Benazir Bhutto’s mission would be accomplished at all cost, she said, adding that the government attached importance to health sector.

She said that huge funds were pumped into the department to upgrade health facilities in remote areas with special focus on extending best health care services at the rural and basic health centres.

She urged doctors to work with dedication for the ailing humanity. She asked them to refrain from transfers and categorically said that no one would be transferred.

Sindh additional secretary, health, Zubair Ahmed disclosed that 516 doctors had cleared the SPSC examination for the posts of medical officers and they all would soon get their appointment orders.

Sindh Law Minister Ayaz Soomro, Minister for Women Development Tauqeer Fatima Fatima Bhutto and local PPP leaders were also present.

PML-N LEADER: Larkana PML-N president Babu Sarfraz Jatoi accused the government of hatching a conspiracy to kill him through his relatives including SP Special Branch, Sukkur, Rustam Khan Jatoi.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr Sarfaraz said that on Monday Aurangzeb, the son of the SP special branch, along with other armed men opened fire on his car near SZABIST’s Larkana campus in Sachal Colony. Fortunately, he was not in the car but the driver got injured, he said.

He accused the SHO of Waleed police station for providing shelter to the attackers.

He along with some advocates remained at the police station for registering an FIR but in vain, he alleged. He said he would move the judiciary in this regard.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) activists held a demonstration at the main gate of Jinnah Bagh to protest the incident. The participants raised slogans against the police; set tyres on fire burnt tyres and called for the registration of an FIR.

DEATH ANNIVERSARY: Pen is mightier than sword augurs well for writer and journalist Anwar Pirzado whose commitment, vision and wisdom brought him at fore even with dictators as he fearlessly confronted oppressors his entire life.

Acting Governor of Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said this while addressing a gathering in Balhreji village near Moenjodaro on Tuesday, marking the second death anniversary of Mr Pirzado.

Mr Khuhro inaugurated Anwar Pirzado Library and Research Centre and announced Rs500,000 grant for it.

Appreciating works of Mr Pirzado, he called upon all to follow him in serving the Sindh and asked each and every resident of the province to equip themselves with the tool of knowledge and information.

Mr Khuhro said that Mr Pirzado had been instrumental in introducing him to Benazir Bhutto prior to joining the Pakistan People’s Party on Feb 6 1987. He said that Mr Pirzado was not only a journalist but also an archaeologist, poet and writer who travelled to the remotest areas in Sindh. His contributions had left permanent prints on the minds of youth and being an honest person he had braved traumas in dictatorial days.

Comrade Sobho Gianchandani lauding Mr Pirzado’s contributions to Sindhi literature said that he had spiritual connections with him.

He influenced me in writing newspaper columns and enlightened the village and surrounding areas with education, courage and commitment, said Mr Gianchandani adding that he explored the hidden historical treasurers in Sindh because of his untiring personality.

MNA Nazeer Bughio lauded the efforts of Mr Pirzado in developing the village and announced a drainage scheme for the village.

Qurban Pirzado, Gulab Pirzado, Zarar Pirzado and Riaz Pirzado also spoke on the occasion.
