LAHORE, Jan 5: The Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) has launched a protest movement against non-acceptance of their long-standing demands.

PTU Information Secretary Abdul Rasheed Nagra has stated that all schoolteachers will observe a black flag week till Jan 10 and then observe a one-hour academic boycott in schools from Jan 12 to 15.

He said the teachers would hold protest demonstrations and rallies all over the province from Jan 16.

Mr Nagra said the government should give a time-scale to teachers, sanction teaching allowance announced in the budget for the year 2006 and accept their other demands.—Staff Reporter
