QUETTA, Jan 5: Two people were killed and two others injured in what appeared to be a targeted attack in the Karani road area on Monday.

Police said gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a rickshaw, killing its driver Mohammad Khan and passenger Mohammad Essa on the spot.

An old woman and her four-year-old grandson who were passing through the area were injured.

They were taken to the Bolan Medical Complex hospital.

Amanullah Kasi adds: The Hazara Democratic Party has condemned the killing of two tribesmen and accused the government of having failed to protect the Hazara people.

A statement issued by the party here on Monday said the administration had been informed that two areas in the city, Arbab Karam Khan road and Karani road, were being used to attack Hazara tribesmen, but it did nothing to protect these areas. The party pointed out that Khan Mohammad and Essa Hazara were gunned down in the same areas on Monday.

The statement called for immediate arrest of the killers and for special security arrangements in the areas.
