KARACHI, Jan 3: Experienced Nomi Qamar gave a lesson to Shayan Najam as he breezed past 6-1, 6-1 to advance into the men’s singles last eight of the Sindh ranking tennis championship at Southend Club on Saturday.
Davis Cupper and second seed Nomi, who got a first round bye, now faces the winner of Ali Imran and Abdul Rehman.
The other seeded players - Jalil Khan, Yasir Khan and Nasir Mushtaq - who too got a bye in the first round open their campaign on Sunday.
Top seed Syed Zuhair Raza proved too good for Adil Kohari as he notched up 6-1, 6-1 victory to enter juniors’ U-17 singles next round.
Another up and coming Nameer Shamsi had a double success in juniors U-17 and boys U-15 singles. His victim in juniors was Mikeel Asad who went down 1-6, 0-6 while he handed out 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Ali Hussain in boys U-15.
