KARACHI, Jan 1: Zone-I Whites beat Zone-V Whites by 47 runs and became the first team to qualify for the KCCA Inter-zonal Under-19 cricket tournament quarter-finals at the KCCA Stadium on Wednesday.

With this win, Zone-I Whites finished as pool ‘C’ toppers while Zone-V Whites, remaining the pool’s runners-up, also qualified for the last-eight round.

Batting first, Zone-I Whites made 210 for eight in the allotted 50 overs with Sami Arshad (53) being the top-scorer. Mannan Aftab made 48. Shahab Shaheen took five wickets for 60.

Zone-V Whites, in response, were bowled out for 163 in 47.1 overs. Mohammad Waqas hit 56. Israr-ul-Haq captured five wickets for 20 while Qamar Iqbal claimed three for 39.

Meanwhile, Sufiyan Gul scored an unbeaten 33 to steer Zone-IV Blues to a four-wicket victory over Zone-VII Blues at the Pak Star Ground.

In another match held at the Student Ground, Zone-VI Blues beat Zone-I Greens by 72 runs.
