TAXILA, Dec 29: The town police and administration in collaboration with other law-enforcing agencies have chalked a security plan to protect the religious places, mourning processions and Majalis-e-Aza durig Muharram.
Sources told Dawn that foolproof security arrangements had been planned for imambargahs and mosques of Taxila and Wah Cantonment. The sources said 10 persons placed in category A and 69 persons in B would be under strict vigilance and surety bond for not disturbance the peace had been taken from those placed in category A.
The police in collaboration with the peace committees would chalk out a master plan to maintain religious harmony in the city. Flag march of the police, army and other law-enforcement personnel would also be held in twin cities of Taxila and Wah Cantonment on 7th of Muharrum.
The sources said special control room would be set up in the city, where police officials would perform duty round the clock and police commandos would be deployed on the routes of processions of Muharram to ensure the safety of the mourners.
Security will be ensured at mosques, imambargahs and procession routes to avoid any untoward incident, they said, adding that under the security plan all processions would be monitored by the concerned nazims and sensitive points checked by the security personnel.
Under the security plan, carrying of firearms during processions and meetings held in connection with Ashura will be banned and all the SHOs have been directed to implement Muharram security plan in letter and spirit and keep close liaison with the local peace committees.—Correspondent
