KASUR, Dec 29: A dozen armed men on Monday torched the dwelling (shanty) of a family and humiliated women to settle score over a land dispute in the Ganda Singh police precinct.
Muhammad Sadiq of Burg Kalan village alleged that Mahmood Ahmad, his sons and 10 unidentified armed men stormed his house and thrashed and abused the women. They also torched the abode and left the place firing in air after villagers came there.
Sadiq claimed that the gangsters were part of a land-grab mafia which wanted to occupy his plot. The police instituted a case 353/08 under section 436/427, 354/452, 379/337h-2, 337F-1/418 and 149 of PPC. The police said the DSP had convened a meeting in a day or two to probe and settle the land dispute.
The police also registered a case against the complainants after Sajjad Ahmad, the son of Mahmood Ahmad, claimed that they had purchased the plot from Sadiq’s brother, which he was not handing over to them. —Correspondent
