MELBOURNE, Dec 28: Australian off-spinner Jason Krejza has vowed to regain his Test spot despite his sudden axing following the defeat to South Africa in Perth.

Krejza was the only change after the record-breaking loss and was replaced by Nathan Hauritz, who was considered a better defensive option, for the second match in Melbourne.

“It all came to an abrupt end, but I’ll be back,” Krejza said in the Sun-Herald. “I try to see a positive out of everything and see that everything happens for a reason. As much as I’d like to be playing in Melbourne, it’s happened and there’s no use sulking about it.”

Krejza, who claimed 12 wickets on debut in Nagpur, is now hoping to get a chance in Sydney for the final Test of the South Africa series.

“If I get that opportunity I’ll grab it,” he said. “It would be brilliant to play in front of everyone in Sydney.

“My brother had booked a ticket [to travel to Melbourne], my family and some friends were going to get to the game, so to play in Sydney and have all those people there would be very special. I’ve got time to work on my bowling now and practice a lot more in the nets and get my batting going again. Hopefully then, playing in Sydney won’t be such a stupid idea.”—Agencies
