MIRPURKHAS, Dec 26: A large number of commuters, particularly of rural areas, were stranded and faced difficulties reaching their destinations after police impounded buses and transporters pulled their vehicles off the roads for fear on Friday.
Buses were missing from roads to Naukot, Digri, Umerkot, Sanghar, Khipro and Hyderabad.
Police had reportedly impounded dozens of buses, coaches and coasters to carry people to Garhi Khuda Bux on the eve of Benazir Bhutto’s first death anniversary and many transporters pulled their buses off the roads to avoid their vehicles being impounded.
Majority of commuters were compelled to pay heavy fare to reach their destinations while others were seen waiting for public transport at Jarwari chowk, Khipro Naka, and main bus terminal.
Villagers waiting at Khipro Naka chowk told that they had come to Mirpurkhas after paying heavy fare to pickups to buy some essential items.
