SIALKOT, Dec 24: A good number of Christian sanitary workers staged a rally and a sit-in outside Sialkot TMA offices in protest against non-payment of their salaries on the eve of Christmas.
They also chanted slogans against Tehsil Nazim Imtiazuddin Dar for not releasing their salaries.
Holding banners and placards, the protesting sanitary workers demanded immediate release of their salaries.
When contacted, Sialkot TMO Mir Muhammad Akmal said the salary bill had been passed, but the tehsil nazim did not sign it for some unknown reason.
LOOTED: A van was looted by four armed men on Daska-Gujranwala Road in Daska tehsil on Wednesday.
Reports said the dacoits, who got on the van in the guise of passengers from Lorry Adda, Daska, whipped put pistols and held hostage passengers as soon as the vehicle crossed the Othiyaan police check post.
The dacoits snatched ornaments, cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from passengers and disappeared after halting the van on the road. On the report of passenger Mira Ehsan Baig, the Bambaanwala police have registered a case against the accused.
Meanwhile, four gunmen took away 10 buffaloes from Jaamkey Cheema village. On the report of cattle trader Sarfraz Ahmad, the Motra police have registered a case with no arrest or recovery.
