RAWALPINDI, Dec 24: Some burglars on Wednesday broke into the houses of an ex-air chief and a relative of a high ranking army officer within the jurisdiction of Airport police and took away valuables, police sources said.
Senior Superintendent Operation Sardar Maqsood Khan visited the house of ex-air chief and inspected the scene of crime on Wednesday. The police took fingers and foot prints from the scene of crime and started investigations.
A senior police official confirmed the incident, and said that ex-air chief Sadat Kaleem along with family had gone to Karachi leaving two servants behind when some unidentified burglars broke into the house.
“Although the house was searched by thieves, nothing was stolen. They have said that the detail of the stolen items, if anything was found missing would be given later on,” the senior police officer said.
In the first incident, some burglars broke into the house of Nasir Mehmood Kayini in Gulzar-i-Quaid and stole away cash and jewellery. The burglary victim lodged a complaint with the airport police saying that he had gone to his village along with his family after locking his house. On his return on Sunday, he found the locks of his house broken and households scattered in rooms. On listing the goods, he found cash, gold ornaments and other valuables stolen. The value of the stolen items was not known.
In another similar incident, some burglars broke into the house of ex-air chief in Fazia colony by cutting the fence in the absence of the family.
Police stepped up patrols and alerted the house owners in the area after two burglaries.
