OKARA, Dec 23: Potato growers are suffering heavy losses owing to indifferent attitude of the government.

Potato Growers Society President Mian Muhammad Siddiq and Farmers Associates Pakistan (FAP) Director Dr Syed Afzal Rizvi told Dawn that it was the peak season of the potato yield and presently 20,000 sacks of potato (100 to 120kg each) were arriving in the markets of Okara, Kasur and Pakpattan districts, but some hidden hands had allowed potato import from India. —Correspondent
