SHIKARPUR, Dec 23: A dispute between Shar and Khoso tribe was settled at a jirga at Jatoi House here on Monday evening.
Sardar Khadim Hussain Khan Jatoi, former MNA Dr Mohammad Ibrahim Jatoi and Sardar Mohammad Muqeem Khoso headed the jirga and Haji Karim Dino Jatoi and Mir Khadim Hussain Khoso assisted them at the jirga proceedings.
After hearing the statements of both the rival parties and witnesses, the mediators held that 30 people of both the tribes, including 13 men and two women of Shar tribe and 14 men and one woman of Khoso tribe were killed during armed clashes.
According to Jirga verdict, Shar tribesmen will pay an amount of Rs6.8 million to victims belonging to Khoso tribe as compensation against 15 murders including those of one woman and two notables, Rs400,000 for each dead man and Rs8,00,000 for each woman.
As per verdict, the Khoso tribesmen will pay an amount Rs6.8 million to Shar tribesmen as compensation for 15 murders, including those of two women.
In all a fine of Rs13.6 million was slapped on both the parties for 30 murders. The payments will be made by the parties to each other in three months.
According to verdict, if any party violated the jirga decision, it will pay another rupees one million as fine.
The decision about the injured persons of both the rival parties will be made on December 25 and decision about disputed agricultural land of 45 acres will be made on December 29 by the mediators.
Dispute between Shar and Khoso tribesmen sparked over possession of a piece of 45 acres of agricultural land two years back and has claimed 30 lives from both the parties.
