LANDI KOTAL, Dec 22: Eight tribesmen were killed and eight others injured when rival groups exchanged fire during a jirga in the remote Tirah valley on Monday.

The jirga was being held in Battan Sharif Kalay to resolve a land dispute.

When tribal elders failed to reach an agreement, armed men of the rival groups opened fire on each other.

Meanwhile, a businessman was kidnapped from Bazaar-Zakhakhel road on Monday. The kidnappers also took away his vehicle.
