Omer, Jazeb shine in amateur golf

KARACHI, Dec 21: Omer Bangash and Jazeb Ather excelled in the amateur category by winning gross and net honours, respectively, in the eighth Rashid D Habib — Hamid D Habib memorial golf tournament at the Karachi Golf Club (KGC) course on Sunday.

Omer played a round of three-over-par 75 to land the gross title while Jazeb fired 65 to win the net event.

The pros title went to Waheed Baloch while Afser Ali finished runner up.

Some 280 golfers featured in different categories of the event which was played over two days in ideal conditions.

Both Rashid and Hamid are considered pioneers in the golfing history of the country and synonymous with the KGC.

Abdullah Adil, runner up Ashraf Adil.

Ladies winner Net:

Mrs. Seung Kum Suk 71, runner up Shahida Ismail 72.

Veteran’s winner Net: Commodore S. I. Hussain 33, runner up Azeem Khan 35.

Closet to pin: Sajid Ali Khan 4 ft 2 inches.

Seniors winner Gross:

Young Kon Kown 77, runner up Haroon Kahlon 77.

Seniors winner Net:

AVM Ataur Rehman 69, runner up Mian Mohammad Farid 70.

Closet to pin: Pervaiz Ansari 6 ft 4 inches.

Amateur winner Gross:

Omer Bangash 75; runner up Lt Cdr Saeed Khattak 76.

Amateur winner Net:

Jazeb Ather 65; runner up Cdr Asim Bhatti 69.

Pros winner:

Waheed Baloch, runner up Afser Ali.

Senior pros winner: Angoor Khan; runner up Abdul Karim.
