LAHORE, Dec 19: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) patron Nawaz Sharif has condemned the Mumbai carnage and urged the Indian government to resolve the core issues with its neighbours outstanding since long rather than playing a blame game.
Talking to lawyers and party women’s wing members at his Raiwind residence here on Friday, Mr Sharif said Pakistan was a strong country and could thwart any aggression.
He said time had come to purge the political system of the remnants of dictatorship and eliminating the 17th Amendment from the Constitution.
Any laxity on the part of parliament in this regard would be a blunder, he said, adding the PML-N would table a bill in parliament for the purpose.
He reiterated that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) should implement the Charter of Democracy and appoint judges in higher courts in accordance with the charter.
