MITHI, Dec 15: Residents of Kelhoont village, Diplo taluka, held a demonstration outside the press club here on Monday to draw attention of the authorities to ‘mysterious’ disappearance of one of their relatives.
Natho, Ambaram, and Lachhmi told journalists that about three months ago, their relative Bhimoon Bheel had exchanged hot words with Bhooro, Tejo, Mohabto and Nanjo over cattle grazing in his field.
The angry Thakurs beat Bhimoon who had been missing since then, they said and added that either the Thakurs had killed Bhimoon or kept him at undisclosed location after getting him kidnapped.
The protesters appealed to the authorities to help recover Bhimoon, order an inquiry into the matter and initiate lawful action against those responsible for his disappearance.
Meanwhile, a group of members of Meghwar community held a demonstration outside the local press club for second day on Monday to protest against their displacement from their houses by some influential people.
Tanoo Mal, his wife Lachhmi Bai, Kanhoon, wife of Kumbho, and their relatives told journalists that they had constructed thatched houses at their plot in Mithi a couple of years ago. On Sunday, they said, Hamir Junejo and others armed with clubs and sticks attacked them and evicted them from their houses.
The protesters alleged that the police were neither registering their case nor taking action against those who had occupied their houses. They demanded an inquiry into the matter and justice with them.
