LAHORE, Dec 13: Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has accused the government of isolating the armed forces by its policies.

Talking to different delegations at Mansoora on Saturday, he said the armed forces had been first made to fight against the patriots in the tribal areas. Hundreds of girls were then killed during the Jamia Hafsa operation. A ban had now been imposed on the Jamaatud Dawa under Indian and American pressure and future of thousands of students had been ruined by closing its educational institutions.

He said the JI had opposed the ban on Jamaatud Dawaa in the All-Party Conference convened by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, pointing out that such organisations always supported the government in the hour of need.

He said the government was taking ‘sensitive’ decisions by bypassing parliament because there was no free and independent judiciary in the country. The government should have taken the extreme step of imposing a ban on Jamaatud Dawa on the basis of undeniable evidence and at the same time should have used diplomatic channels to tell the world that India was accusing it of involvement in Mumbai attacks without any evidence.

Indian allegations accusing Pakistan of involvement in bomb blasts had proved wrong in the past. On the other hand, the government had solid evidence of involvement of Indian intelligence agency, RAW, and Indian consulate in Afghanistan in subversive activities in Pakistan, but it was not passing it on to the world.

He said the country needed unity, a free and independent judiciary and a fearless leadership.
