LAHORE, Dec 13: Punjab Chief Secretary Javed Mahmood on Saturday decided to proceed against those responsible for delay in completion of seven-storey surgical tower in Mayo Hospital.
The chief secretary took the decision during inspection of Mayo Hospital and Government Mozang Hospital, along with Lahore Division Commissioner Khusro Pervez and DCO Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta.
He also decided to approach Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for the appointment of a competent director for ensuring completion of the project in time.
The chief secretary praised the performance of doctors and staff of the Mozang Hospital. He said the government would not only ensure appointment of specialists in the hospital, but also provide residential facilities to doctors willing to serve there.
The chief secretary also inspected the encroachments demolished on Hall Road, Mozang and Faridkot Road.
The DCO inspected the shops demolished in an unauthorised plaza at Badami Bagh Auto Market and encroachments razed in Ichhra, Anarkali, Mozang and Samanabad.
He said all encroachments in the provincial metropolis would be demolished by Jan 15.
ATMs: The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has urged State Bank Governor Dr Shamshad Akhtar to take notice of non-functioning of automated teller machines (ATMs) during Eid holidays
In a statement issued here on Saturday, a PIAF spokesman said a large number of people could not draw the required amounts from ATMs before Eid. Some of the ATMs were out of order while some had run out of cash.
