Stringent security for Eidul Azha

KARACHI, Dec 8: Strict security arrangements have been put in place all over the country to maintain peace as people celebrate Eidul Azha from Tuesday.

Flag marches by police and paramilitary forces were held in major cities and towns across the country on Monday and orders have been issued banning display of arms in public.

Police pickets were posted in shopping centres on Monday and additional police force will be deployed on the three days of Eid to provide security to people during Eid congregations and other activities.

Sindh police chief Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak has asked police officers in Sukkur and Hyderabad and the CCPO Karachi to make special security arrangements in Eidgahs, mosques, Imambargahs, shopping centres and other places on the Eid day.

About 15,000 policemen have been deployed for security.

He also asked the SSP (security) to ensure foolproof security and deploy additional police force at important places and keep strict vigil at all exit and entry routes of the cities.

While Eid is being celebrated in the countries of South Asia form today, Muslims in most parts of the world, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe and the United States, celebrated the festival on Monday.
