LAHORE, Dec 7: Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General Syed Munawar Hasan has expressed concerns at the sufferings of quake victims in Balochistan and asked the rulers about the utility of the donations received for the victims.

In a statement released here on Sunday, Mr Hasan said the victims in Ziarat and adjoining areas were suffering from extreme cold for a want of shelters and warm clothing as the tents provided to them were unable to protect them from rain and snowfall. He said a large number of elderly people and children had caught different diseases.

He lashed out at the government for not providing alternative shelters to the victims and refugees despite collecting over billions of rupees donations from abroad and within the country.

He said the relief provided to the victims by different non-government originations was not sufficient to make them bear the extreme cold and snowfall. He demanded the government spend the aid on the victims in order to provide them proper relief.
