LAHORE, Dec 7: An alleged murderer was killed during a shootout between his accomplices and Hanjarwal police near the River Ravi early on Sunday.
Police captured Muhammad Pervez, 25, of Mir Muhammad Sattoki with bullet injuries for the murder of two members of Khokhar group in Niaz Beg village on Nov 28.
Hanjarwal police were taking Pervez to the hideout of his accomplices Jameel and Jaidi near the Ravi. As police reached near the hideout, Jameel, Jaidi and their accomplices opened fire. The police retaliated and Pervez was “killed in the crossfire”. Jameel, Jaidi and their accomplices fled.
Police registered a case against Jameel, Jaidi and their accomplices under sections 302, 324, 148, 149 and 186 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Sadar Division SP (Investigation) Nasir Aziz Virk said Pervez was admitted to Jinnah Hospital on Nov 28 and he had confessed to attacking the members of the Khokhar group.
It is learnt that Pervez’s ‘accomplices’ also tried to kill him in Jinnah Hospital, but failed.
