KHAIRPUR, Dec 7: Police have failed to check rising incidents of kidnappings in Khairpur.
Despite claims made by the authorities, a number of people kidnapped over the past few months have not been recovered so far.
Four persons Karim Dino Ghumro, Tariq Kolachi, Abdul Qadir Sahto and Sikandar Sehto were kidnapped near Khuhra bus stop in taluka Gambat when they were going from Khuhra to Soomar Ghumro village to attend a wedding ceremony in the first week of October.
Two milkmen, Yasin Larik and Ismail Larik were kidnapped a few weeks back from Pir Jo Goth area, whereas Shabbir Junejo was kidnapped one week ago.
All of them are still missing. On the other hand, police authorities in a press release, issued here on Sunday, said that an operation had been launched against dacoits in katcha area of district.
It claimed that some six kidnapped persons had been recovered whereas bandits and their accomplices had also been arrested during the operation.
The release further said that more than 1,000 policemen led by the SSP investigation Khairpur, Ghulam Akbar Wagan, had been reserved for the operation in question.
Sources said that the police force was facing difficulties due to rain and it might demand helicopters in order to make the operation successful.
The authorities further claimed that many hideouts of bandits had been destroyed during the operation whereas remarkable success had been achieved in operation carried out in katcha area of the district.
