LAHORE, Dec 6: Three-year-old bay colt Cut Throat with two back-to-back victories to his credit looks a better proposition to have the better of his rivals in the feature event during the 14th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

He is contesting in the Murree Plate, class IV, division I, II and III to go over 1,300 metres.

Cut Throat, the colt from Forzando out-of-Perfect Pirouette, has already won two races on Sept 28 and Nov 16 for a better claim.

He will, however, have Lucky Winner Tuba First and Secret Memories with him in a competition between form, breeding and classification. The slightest disadvantage he has is in his placing at top weight carrying nine stones four pounds in handicap. This will be the fourth race of the day.

In the fifth and supporting event, the three-year-old chestnut colt Vendetta looks set to steal the honour to make it a two-in-a-row.

Vendetta, a progeny of Vitellozi out-of-Next Generation, had mauled the colt Rustom, scoring a win over the much talked about prodigy ridden by ace jockey Shahid Rehman, who was mesmerised by Vendetta’s early speed.

He may face a stiff opposition from the colt Mutajir and the filly Royal Gesture, who undoubtedly are speedy animals but no match on bloodline quality. This will be the fifth race in the racing order, the Sanghar Plate class V division I to be contested over 1,200 metres.

Cut Throat and Vendetta, owned by Syed Tasweer Hussain come from the rich array of leading trainer Sohail Aziz, who is aiming for Derby 2009 -- the only classic which has eluded him so far.

Four-year-old filly Renaushky, who had scored an easy win on Nov 30 will be going all out to make it two consecutive wins in the sixth and last race of the day, Sanghar Plate, class V Division II over 1,200 metres.

Victory Bulbul, The News and Big Bird should fight for places.

Tripple Star, Mikkado and Pretty Girl look good to fight for the spoils in the third race having the largest field of 16 runners. If form is any indicator, they should finish in the same order.

Racing fans may expect a keen contest in the first two races meant for animals in the lower divisions of class six to be gone over 1,100 metres.

They have been subscribed by a mixture of pedigree and non-pedigree horses. Some of the unknown pedigree horses have really shown good results to cause concern among owners possessing pedigree horses. The first race will be held at 1.00pm.
