NAWABSHAH, Dec 5: Taking notice of a murder executed on the orders of a ‘jirga’ on the pretext of karo-kari in Nawabshah, the President House has directed the police to look into the matter and to take action against the culprits.
After receiving the orders, the relevant district police officer on Thursday called the complainant, Khanzadi, daughter of Mohammad Ramzan Brohi, a resident of Mitho Khan village, UC Mohammad Ismail Brohi near Jam Sahab. She is a school teacher by profession.
Ms Khanzadi said that her sister, Hakimzadi,18, had fled with her cousin, Mohammad Anwar Brohi, on July 2, 2008. They intended to contract court marriage.
She said that when she came to know about it, she immediately informed her uncles Mohammad Saleh, Ali Bux, and her younger brother, Ghulam Hussain, after which they along with her maternal uncle Ghulam Hussain chased the couple and caught them.
Ms Khanzadi said that her sister was brought back home. However, she said she had no idea about the whereabouts of Anwar Brohi.
She said that her elders later arranged a jirga which her paternal and maternal uncles, cousins as well as a tribal elder from Balochistan Abdul Rahim Brohi had attended. The jirga decided to kill her sister on the pretext of karo kari. She said that on July 18, Ms Hakimzadi was slaughtered by Mir Hassan, Ghulam Mohammad, Mian Bux and Ali Bux in front of her eyes and her body was taken away.
