DADU, Dec 3: Record of 3,682 acres land in Sona Bindi forest of Mehar taluka has been tampered with and the land’s ownership has been fraudulently transferred to eight land grabbers, according to divisional forest officer.
DFO Altaf Hussain Khokhar said in a communication to the provincial government on Wednesday that revenue officials had changed the record of the forest spread over 12,890 acres and transferred its ownership to Irfan Ali Soomro, Gulab Qambrani, Asif Ali, Wazir Ali, Shafique Ahmed, Sajid Ali, Niaz Hussain and Nisar Ahmed.
He alleged that sub-registrar of Mehar had made fake entries in the record in connivance with other revenue officials. The mukhtiarkar issued land certificates and the tapedar issued fake revenue receipts to the eight persons, he said.
Mr Khokhar said that forest officials had not allotted any piece of land to anyone and they had record available at the forest office to prove it.
He informed the DCO and EDO of revenue about the fraud and asked them to verify it and take action against the responsible officials.
He said that police had been asked to lodge FIRs against the land grabbers for encroaching upon the forest land.
