ISLAMABAD, Dec 2: Pakistan’s Sarah Mehboob Khan cruised into the quarter-final of the ITF Pakistan Women’s Future tennis tournament defeating Arthi Venkataraman of India 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets in the second leg on Tuesday.
Sarah took advantage of the home crowd as she trounced Arthi before a sizeable audience.
Sarah won the first set 6-4 breaking the second game of Arthi by playing a consistent game from the baseline.
She maintained pressure in the second set playing a mixed game winning convincingly 6-2.
Sarah will now face Kumari Sweta Solanki of India in the quarter-final.
In another thrilling encounter, Korea’s Shin Jung Yoon from Korea upstaged fifth seed Shaivika Buram of India in a well contested two-set match winning 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, in the day’s other fixtures, Top seed Parul Goswami of India beat her compatriot Dipti Srivastava in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
Second seed Poojashree Venkatesha outplayed Meheq Khokhar in straights set 6-0, 6-0 while Kim Hae Sung from Korea eliminated Achana Venkataraman also in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
Kumari Sweta Solanki of India made it to the quarter final after a competitive match against Treta Bhattacharya Beating her in two sets 6-2, 7-5.
Yang Pang from China walloped Prearana Prathap in straight sets and also confirmed her berth for quarter-final. She will now face top seed Goswami in the quarter-final.
