LAHORE, Dec 1: Justice Hafiq Tariq Nasim of the Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed 12 petitions against reduction in the upper age limit of candidates for their appointments as educators.

“The government policy on reducing age limit for the candidates from 45 years to 35 years appears to be carrying rationale,” Justice Nasim observed while dismissing the petitions.

The judge, however, allowed three petitions filed by Tanvir Talib and two others for recognition of their Masters degrees valid for qualifying as educators.

The petitioners said though they were holding Master’s degrees, the government did not recoginse them equal to M.Ed, a pre-requisite for getting job as an educator.

Justice Nasim also put off hearing till Dec 16 in petitions for implementation of ‘in-service quota’ for educators.

Petitioners Mohammad Siddique and others said the government should fill the in-service 50 per cent quota before appointing others.

The court adjourned the case after the advocate-general sought time to inform the court on the subject.
